Bobtail Building Blocks™ is Bobtail Ice Cream Company’s initiative to support kids and education in our communities.
WHY WE DO IT
Founders Jeff Wilcoxon and Chris Hill established Bobtail in 2004 after participating in the Edward L. Kaplan New Venture Challenge, an annual business plan competition at the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business. Their success in the competition gave Jeff and Chris the opportunity to partner with local alumnus, John Rutledge, to bring Bobtail to life and open the first location on Chicago’s Broadway Avenue.
The founders launched Bobtail with the perspective, determination and network gained from a quality education. They believe that opportunity and knowledge is every child’s right and will work with teachers and parents in every way to make this right a reality.

BOBTAIL BOOKS READING PROJECT
On the last Wednesday of every month, Bobtail will
reward any child who brings us a teacher-approved
Bobtail Book Report with a free scoop of his / her choice.
That’s an opportunity to read a book and receive a
scoop of ice cream each and every month!
BOBTAIL GOOD WORK AWARD
Teachers are invited to award one student’s good
work each month with a package of five free scoop cards.
At the end of each school year, Bobtail will also offer each
participating teacher an ice cream cake to share with the
class at 50% off the retail price.
BOBTAIL SCHOOL EVENTS
We sponsor a select number of school events
each year, including up to 200 free kid scoops
during the event -or- up to 200 free scoop cards.
Note: Events must include children under the
age of 18 and are based on availability.
SCHOOL DISCOUNTS
We offer significant discounts to any school interested
in hosting an ice cream social or fundraiser.
SILENT AUCTION DONATIONS
We’ll donate a gift certificate – good for two pints
of Bobtail ice cream per month for a year –
to any school holding a silent auction.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Bobtail collects donations during its Annual
Free Ice Cream Day to support local and
national education initiatives.
