New Ice Cream Flavor Contest

Help us give birth to our new featured flavors!

The Bobtail family is growing in more ways than one! We’re preparing for the birth of our new Wilmette store, the reopening of our Buckingham Fountain location is just around the corner and, on a more personal note, founder Jeff Wilcoxon and his wife will welcome twins - a baby boy and girl - in late spring. The babies will join founder Chris Hill’s new daughter who recently celebrated her first birthday. With the way we’re growing, we think it’s the perfect time to expand our featured flavor list and invite you to join in on the fun.

We plan to choose two new flavors - one for kids and one for grown-ups - from the submissions that we receive!

Due date

New flavor submissions and judging panel entries (details below) will be accepted now through April 30, 2007, at 11:00 p.m. CT.

Judging

All submissions will initially be judged on or about May 3, 2007, and narrowed down to five finalists for both the kid and grown-up flavors. Members of the immediate Bobtail family - Jeff Wilcoxon, his wife Jenny, Chris Hill and his wife Laurence - will conduct the first round of judging.

We’re inviting our extended family - you! - to enter your name for a chance to vote on one of the five finalists for either the kid or grown-up flavor, depending on your age.  We’ll choose five kids (ages 5-17) and five grown-ups (ages 18-118) in a random drawing on May 1, 2007. All judges will be contacted on or about May 2, 2007, and asked to vote for their favorite flavor on or about May 7. Each judge will also receive two free pints of the winning flavors. Judges’ panel entries will be accepted at our store locations.

Birth announcement

Winning flavors will be announced on Mother’s Day - May 13, 2007. Both flavors will be available at our store locations through June 13, 2007.

Grand prize

Each winner – one for the kid flavor and one for the grown-up flavor – will receive 1) one pint of his/her winning flavor; 2) one free single scoop each week from Memorial Day to Labor Day (May 28, 2007 – September 3, 2007).
